June Walatkiewicz

M.A. in Social Work, LMSW, ACSW, LMFT BCD, Hearing Loss Specialist

June Walatkiewicz is a licensed clinical social worker and licensed marriage and family therapist with over 30 years of experience in the mental health field.

As a Child of Deaf Parents (CODA), I developed sign language communication skills, which were formalized as a qualified Interpreter for the Deaf. She later expanded her educational goals by obtaining her Master's in Social Work from Wayne State University.

She specializes in outpatient mental health with individuals with hearing loss in the tri-county area. Previously, she was recognized as Social Worker of the Year by MI-NASW for her work with the Deaf and Hard of Hearing. June previously served on the NASW-MI Mental Health Task Force for the Deaf, DeafBlind, and Hard-of-Hearing, and continues to advocate for equal access for this population.

She has given presentations to medical residents at Beaumont Hospital, Michigan Rehabilitation, Sign Language Students at Madonna University and Macomb Community College, Health Care Insurance Providers, Parent Support Groups, and other interested groups on the unique treatment issues for the Deaf and Hard of Hearing.

I am also a speaker and workshop facilitator, committed to bringing mental health education to wider audiences.

As a consultant, I collaborate with organizations to improve their understanding of mental health services, create inclusive environments, and strengthen support for diverse communities.

My Passion

I’m June W., a licensed therapist specializing in IFS and IFIO.

My approach is both clinically grounded and deeply human — offering a safe, compassionate space where every part of you is welcome.

For over a decade, I’ve worked at the intersection of mental health and accessibility, especially with my private practice work with Deaf Help Here.

That work shaped my approach and continues to guide me today as I serve the Deaf and Hard-of-Hearing community.

My Approach

My approach is both clinically grounded and deeply human. I integrate:

  • IFS (Internal Family Systems): Helping you explore your inner world with curiosity and compassion.

  • IFIO (Intimacy from the Inside Out): Supporting couples as they build stronger communication and connection.

  • Culturally Competent Care: Honoring my roots in serving the Deaf and Hard of Hearing community.

At the heart of my work is a belief that every part of you is welcome. Therapy is a journey we walk together, with open hands and open hearts, moving toward healing and connection.
